Mexico developed a plan to increase tourism it invested in certain towns to increase these incomes because the decrease of Mexican tourism used a bad economy situation.

This is an impulse of SECTUR with various government agencies and state and local governments creates the program Pueblos Magicos in 2001, it was called in this way because became magic for tourists who named them ,for their wealth in colors, flavors and smells, it was made for tourists that loves the beauty of Mexico.
The objective of the program is to impulse highlight tourism value of locations in the interior of Mexico and to impulse the tourism in our typical towns that for everyday life that had forgotten its importance, the towns represent and propose a new alternative to don´t spent a lot of money to enjoy the real colors of the beauty of our country.

What distinguishes Pueblos Magicos from all the other is there are towns who behinds the time preserve , value and support their historic heritage, customs,traditions and culture, there are people who loves their land , their native
past and share this magical things with the people who visit the town.


The SECTUR has named 32 Pueblos Magicos the criterionsto define the towns was that are importance because of their natural beauty,cultural splendor and architectonic beauty.Today are 40 Pueblos Magicos.
